Kitchen Care & Maintenance Guide
The right way to clean and maintain a kitchen depends entirely on what it's made of. Here's how to look after the most common NZ kitchen materials, so your finish lasts as long as it's meant to.
Benchtop Care by Material

Engineered stone is non-porous, so unlike natural stone options it never needs periodic sealing to stay stain-resistant.
Caring for Cabinetry & Hardware
Wipe spills promptly rather than leaving moisture sitting against cabinetry edges or seams, particularly around sinks and dishwashers. Soft-close hinges and drawer runners are designed to be used gently — they don't need force, and slamming a soft-close door or drawer works against the mechanism rather than with it. Avoid harsh abrasive cleaners on painted or laminate cabinet fronts; a damp cloth with mild detergent is sufficient for everyday cleaning.
Sink Care
Rinse and dry stainless steel sinks after use to avoid water spotting, and avoid leaving steel wool or other rusting metal objects sitting in the basin. Composite and granite-look sinks generally tolerate more day-to-day abuse than stainless steel but still benefit from a regular wipe-down rather than letting residue build up over time.
When to Call a Professional
Cabinetry and installation workmanship issues — a door that's come out of alignment, a drawer runner that's failed, a benchtop seam that's opened up — are covered under our 10-year workmanship warranty. Day-to-day wear from normal use isn't a warranty issue, but genuine manufacturing or installation faults are, regardless of how long ago the kitchen was installed.
